Odisha girl tops in national school level painting competition

Swadha Mohanty, a class XII student of Ispat English Medium School in Rourkela in Odisha’s Sundargarh district has secured top position in a recent national school level painting competition, which was organized by Associations of Schools for the Indian School Certificates (ASISC) at Madurai.

Swadha MohantyPrior to winning this award, Swadha has won the painting competition organized by Lalit Kala Academy. She had secured first position in the Odisha-Chhattisgarh zonal competition held in July and was eligible to participate in the national school level competition at Madurai being the only contestant from Odisha,

Talking to OST, Swadha’s father Radheshyam Mohanty and mother Sasmita Mohanty said they had noticed Swadha’s interest towards paintings since her childhood and they have always encouraged her in carrying her painting besides her study.

“I am extremely happy that I could secure first position in a national level competition and bring laurels for my city and state,” said Swadha in her reaction. “Besides my study, I wish to make name in painting and be recognized in national level in future,” she added.
