Odisha girl writes Ramayana, seals place in record books

Bhubaneswar: An eight-year-old girl has brought laurels for Odisha as she has entered India Book of Records.

Ishita Achary has achieved this feat by writing Hindu epic Ramayana in a record time. Besides, she has become the youngest to do so.

Presently staying at Chitlapakkam in Chennai, the little girl has penned the summary of Ramayana in 57 pages in just 22 days.

A Class-III student of NSN Memorial School, she had an inclination towards mythological stories.

“I was very much interested to know more about mythological stories like Mahabharat and Ramayana. I used to ask a lot of questions to my grandfather,” Ishita said.

During COVID-19 lockdown, Ramanand Sagar directed Ramayana was retelecasted and Ishita did let the opportunity go. She watched every episode to satisfy her curiosity.

She started writing the English version of Ramayana in May and completed it in just over three weeks time. Her parents – Sanjit and Rashmita – decided to send the copies of it to the India Book of Records. After verification, she was given the certificated and a medal.

Having entered the India Book of Records, she has now set her eyes on Limca and Guinness Book of Records.
