Odisha government asks Collectors to arrange special screenings of ‘DAMAN’

The decision for special screenings aims to motivate government officials to augment healthcare services in inaccessible areas.

Bhubaneswar: With Odia movie ‘DAMAN’ riding high on its cinematic success and garnering a spectacular response from people across Odisha, the State government has facilitated its special screenings at the district and sub-divisional levels. All Collectors of respective districts have been requested to arrange special screenings at their nearby theatres either at district or sub-divisional level as per their suitability, a press release noted.

As the theme of the movie is based on the Odisha government’s scheme for malaria eradication namely ‘DAMAN’ (Durgama Anchalare Malaria Nirakaran), the decision for special screenings aims to motivate government officials to augment healthcare services in inaccessible areas.

‘DAMAN’ revolves around and chronicles the success of the Odisha government’s health scheme in malaria-endemic Malkangiri district. The movie also carries a positive message on the efforts and contribution of both the government and the public in implementing health initiatives in remote areas.

Keeping the movie’s essence in view, the government has facilitated officials at the district and sub-district level, specially those belonging to the Health and Family Welfare (H &FW) department  and other senior level district officers to view the film through special screenings at district and sub-divisional level.

This is to motivate dedicated and hard working government officials. The cost for the same is being borne by the H &FW department, the release stated.
