Odisha govt allows conduct of exams in schools, colleges

Bhubaneswar: While modifying its earlier order issued on Monday on graded reopening of areas outside the containment zones, the Odisha government today said though schools, colleges, other educational, training and coaching institutions, etc. will remain closed till July 31, 2020, conduct of examinations shall be permitted during the period.

The State government further said print and electronic media identified by Commissionerate/District Police will be permitted to function during the weekend shutdown.

Worth mentioning, the government will impose the weekend shutdown in Ganjam, Puri, Nayagarh, Khordha, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Balangir districts till June 30, 2020 to contain the spread of COVID-l9 in the State.

All agriculture, horticulture and allied activities, dairy, fisheries, animal husbandry and Allied activities have also been permitted during the weekend shutdown.

This apart, the government advised the following category of people against outdoor movement, except for essential and health purposes till June 30, 2020.
a. Persons above 65 years of age, b. persons with co-morbidities, c. pregnant women and d. children below the age of 10 years.
