Expressing grave concern and deep sorrow for the people of Jammu and Kashmir affected by the devastating floods, the Odisha government today announced an assistance of Rs 5 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for relief and restoration works in the flood hit areas of the state.

In a release, chief minister Naveen Patnaik said the unprecedented flood had taken a heavy toll of valuable lives and had caused extensive damage to property. He also expressed his heartfelt condolences for the bereaved families.

Patnaik also announced that the state government would press 40 trained personnel of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) with all required rescue equipment, boats and submersible pumps, into service to undertake rescue and relief operations in the affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
