Odisha Govt announces welfare schemes for Puri Jagannath temple servitors

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced a slew of welfare schemes for Sevayats (servitors) of Jagannath temple in Puri. CM also increased the health insurance coverage amount from existing Rs 2 Lakh to Rs 5 Lakh. An additional amount of Rs 5 Lakh will be given in critical cases.

Children of Srimandir servitor families will be provided coaching for different entrance examinations and financial assistance of Rs 50,000 each for a maximum of up to three times, the Chief Minister’s Office said.

The entrance examinations for which coaching will be imparted are NEET, JEE, and Civil Services etc.

Notably, Odisha Government would incur a total expense of Rs 10.85 Crore for the welfare schemes and the fund has been provided by the Government to Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).
