Odisha Govt appoints Secretaries for 10 Aspirational Districts

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has appointed  Secretary-level  officers in respect of 10 Aspirational Districts in the state for a period of three months with effect from  April 1.

The Planning and Convergence Department has issued a notification in this regard.

Commerce and Transport Principal Secretary Madhu Sudan Padhi has been kept in charge of Kandhamal district, MSME Principal Secretary Satyabrata Sahu is in-charge of Kalahandi,  Energy Principal Secretary Nikunja Bihari Dhal for Rayagada and Steel and Mines Principal Secretary Surendra Kumar for Balangir.

Similarly, Science & Technology Principal Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi has been kept in-charge of Koraput,  ST & SC Development Principal Secretary Ranjana Chopra of Dhenkanal, Revenue & Disaster Management Principal Secretary Bishnupada Sethi of Nuapada and SSEPD Secretary Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma of Gajapati district.

IPICOL MD Nitin B Jawale will be in charge of Malkangiri while Director of Social Welfare and W & CD MS Aravind Agrawal will look after the affairs of Nabarangpur.

The Secretaries will closely follow-up the 49 key performance indicators (KPIs) across five sectors: health & nutrition, education, agriculture & water resources, financial inclusion and skill development & basic infrastructure in these districts. They will visit extensively the respective districts and later submit reports for review in the State Level Committee for Monitoring of Action Plan of Aspirational Districts.

The Union Government has also appointed Central Prabhari Officers for the Aspirational Districts who regularly visit the districts and present their reports to NITI Aayog.  The nominated Secretaries in the state will coordinate with them to ensure that the backward districts get boost on all fronts.
