Odisha govt committed to fulfill people’s aspirations: CM

Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik today said that his government is committed to fulfilling the aspirations of the people.
Addressing the 69th state level Independence Day celebration at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg here, he said the state government has decided to form a scholarship council for meritorious students.
“The government has targeted to generate three lakh jobs in the manufacturing sector by 2019-20 and has taken necessary steps to fill up 70,000 vacant government posts,” he added.
The chief minister also said the state government has decided to convert all kutcha (mud brick) houses into pucca (concrete) houses.
Stating that 5.70 lakh pucca houses have been constructed under Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPGY), Patnaik said the government would implement Odisha Urban Mission to provide affordable houses to the economically weaker sections in the urban areas of the state.
Referring to the industrial sector, he said the government has simplified the investment process under new Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR), 2015 to attract more investment to the state.
He also said that the state government has taken necessary steps to counter a possible drought situation in the state due to scanty rainfall this year.
Besides, the government has decided to provide more than Rs 16,000 crore in the next five years to strengthen all panchayats in the state.
Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjeeb Marik and chief secretary GC Pati were present during the hoisting of the tri-colour.
Elaborate security arrangements were made in the state capital and in all district headquarters. Besides, extra security measures were also taken in the Maoist prone districts where the security personnel conducted combing operation to thwart any violence by the Maoists, who had announced to observe the Independence Day as black day.
