Odisha Govt directives, nameplates & advts to be issued in Odia

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today asked the officials to issue government directives, nameplates and advertisements in Odia.

The decision was taken in a Ministerial Committee meeting chaired by the Chief Minister in the Secretariat today.

Among other decisions taken to promote Odia, the government announced to issue scholarships to encourage higher education and research in the language. Besides, a decision was also taken to set up an ‘Odia Open University’.

Considering the advancing digitalisation of languages, the meeting agreed to digitise and preserve some of the well-known books written in Odia. A website has also been launched to promote the language even though the URL could not be verified.

As per information provided in a press notification by the government, a decision was also taken to fill the vacancies in Odia departments of various schools, colleges and universities of the state.
