Odisha Govt extends grace period for payment of pending MV tax of goods carriages

Bhubaneswar: In view of the situation arising out of COVID-19 pandemic, the state Commerce and Transport Department has extended the grace period for payment of Motor Vehicle (MV) tax and additional tax of goods carriages, due for the quarter January to March, 2022.

The grace period has been extended up to February 28, 2022.

“Due to the pandemic, goods carriage business has been affected and the owners are not being able to pay MV tax and additional tax due for the quarter January to March, 2022 within the grace period as prescribed under sub-rule (2) of rule 9 of Odisha Motor Vehicles Taxation Rules, 1976,” said the department in its official notification.

Considering the difficulties faced by the vehicle owners, the state Government has extended the grace period for payment of MV and additional tax due for the said period up to February 28, 2022, the notification read.
