Odisha govt forms panel to resolve BIET deadlock

In bid to break the deadlock in the Bhadrak Institute of Engineering & Technology (BIET) at Barapada, the Odisha government today formed an interim committee to manage the affairs of the troubled engineering college.

BIETA high level meeting held at the state secretariat with Minister Employment and Technical Education & Training Sanjay Das Burma in chair today unanimously decided to appoint a three member interim committee to manage the affairs of the troubled engineering college. Collector Bhadrak Laxminarayan Mishra, principal of BIET Mohan Charan Panda and a member from the staff of the college Srikant Mohapatra have been made members of the interim committee.

“Today it was decided to form an interim committee to manage the affairs of the college. While Bhadrak collector will be the president of the committee, principal of the college Mohan Charan Panda and Srikant Mohapatra on behalf of the staff of the college will be members. All expenditures will be made under the direct supervision of the collector after all income and expenditure is duly approved by the committee,” the minister told reporters after the meeting.

It was decided at the meeting that cash can be withdrawn through cheques undersigned by the collector. The process will be followed after scrutiny of books of accounts and financial management by the committee.

It was unanimously decided at the meeting to take appropriate steps later after studying in detail the by-law of the college.
