Odisha Govt hands over cheque of Rs 5 Lakh to shot dead Similipal forester Mathi Hansda’s next of kin

Rairangpur: S&ME Minister Sudam Marndi today handed over a cheque of Rs 5 lakh to the earlier shot-dead Similipal forester Mathi Hansda’s next of kin at his residence in Tingiria village under Similipal of Mayurbhanj district.

The Minister expressed his empathy to the bereaved family and gave the cheque to the deceased forester’s father Nagaya Hansda. The forest department also provided assistance money to the family.

Rajya Sabha Member Mamata Mohanta, Zilla Parishad chairperson Bharati Hansda along with several local leaders and people’s representatives were present on the occasion.

It is pertinent to mention, Members of the Odisha non-gazetted forest services association have ceased foot patrolling as a token of protest and over a 5-point charter of demands, following the gunshot of two of their colleagues in Similipal National Park of Mayurbhanj district in less than a month.
