Odisha Govt has not banned movement of COVID-19 patients to Twin City: Chief Secy

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has not banned movement of Corona patients to Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, said Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy while clarifying the Government’s previous order to officials directing them not to rush COVID-19 cases to the Twin City.

Tripathy said the Government has created advanced COVID hospital facilities in the twin City of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar for people of the entire state. Government is only regulating to ensure that the patients travel safe and with proper medical advice, arrangements and oxygen support.

The Chief Secretary further stated that carelessness on these matters in the past has affected patients seriously. Referral of the patients with proper medical support will be helpful in further management of the disease at referral points and will save their life, he  added.

Meanwhile, the Government has decided to clinically discharge patients after 10 days from the date of sample collection, given that he has no symptoms for the last three days. The decision was taken in view of shortage of beds in dedicated COVID hospitals here.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Twin City of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar have become the COVID hotspots with 2193  and 4568 active cases, respectively, till Tuesday.
