Odisha Govt hikes DA by 5% for employees, pensioners

Bhubaneswar: With the commencement of budget session of Odisha Assembly today, the state government raised dearness allowance (DA) by 5% for its employees and pensioners with effect from January 1, 2020.

The increase in Odisha comes five months after the Centre hiked DA for employees by 5% with effect from July, 2019.

The announcement was made a day after Odisha Government approved to release 10% of the total arrear revised salary as per 7th Pay Commission recommendations.

After fixation of pay under ORSP Rules, 2017, the state government had provided 40% of the total arrear revised salary due for the period from January 1, 2016 to August 31, 2017 during the financial year 2017-18 announcing that balance arrear salary would be issued in due course.

With latest move, the employees will get 10% of the total arrear revised salary of the aforementioned period from January 1, 2016 to August 31, 2017 on the same terms and conditions applied at the time of drawal of first phase 40% arrear salary. The 10% arrear of the revised salary will be provided by March 20, 2020.
