Odisha Govt hikes monthly salary of junior school teachers

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today raised the monthly salary of junior school teachers (schematic) in Odisha. They will get a remuneration of Rs 20,000 instead of existing Rs 13,800.

The salary hike will be effective retrospectively from January 1, 2023, a press release mentioned.

Accordingly, the junior teachers (schematic) who are working in primary and upper primary schools and have completed a minimum period of three years in service are eligible for the salary hike. With this announcement, nearly 12,784 junior school teachers will be benefited and the State government will incur an additional expense of Rs 95 Crore in a year, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) expressed.

It is pertinent to mention, as per a previous order of the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA), the junior teachers (schematic) were eligible to be Junior Teachers after three years of continuous and satisfactory service and the remuneration was fixed at Rs 13,800 excluding employees’ provident fund (EPF) of employer share.
