Odisha govt hikes salary of Multilingual Education (MLE) teachers

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government today hiked the salary of Multilingual Education (MLE) teachers in the state.

The salary of the teachers has been increased from Rs 3200 to Rs 5379.

The state government had in 2007-2008 appointed as many as 221 MLE teachers to encourage Scheduled Tribes (ST) students to join schools and learn through mother tongue.

They were appointed in primary and upper primary schools in Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Sambalpur and Sundargarh districts.

After 2020, they were receiving salary of Rs 3200.
