Odisha Govt issues SOP on use of Favipiravir tablet during home isolation
Bhubaneswar: As many COVID-19 patients, who are asymptomatic or have wild mild symptoms, are allowed to remain under home isolation in Odisha, the state Government today issued Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on use of tablet Favipiravir during the home isolation.
In a letter to all Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, CDMOs, PHOs and Superintendents of all Government medical college and hospitals, the Additional Chief Secretary to Government said, “The tablet Flavipiravir has to be administered in consultation with trained doctors, after assessing the health situation of the patient with the informed written consent of the patient”.
To ensure availability of Favipiravir to the eligible symptomatic patients under home isolation, the SoP on use of Favipiravir during home isolation and a training module has been prepared.
Chief Secretary further requested the officials to ensure strict adherence to the SOP while administering the tablet Favipiravir to the COVID–19 patients during home isolation.
The SOP will enable the patients to avail the benefits of antiviral therapy i.e. Favipiravir at their doorsteps through the large number of RRT deployed in the field for COVID–19 management.
