Acting on the directive of the Supreme Court, the Odisha government today issued a notification on the use of beacon in the vehicles.

As per the notification issued by the state Commerce and Transport department, flashing red beacons would be used only in the vehicles of the Governor, Chief Minister, Chief Justice and judges of the Odisha High Court, State Assembly Speaker, cabinet ministers and Opposition leader.
Red beacons without flash would be used in the vehicles of Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly, ministers of state and deputy ministers.
Officials in charge of law and order and emergency services are allowed to use orange beacons in their vehicles.
Apart from this, officials in eight other posts would also be allowed to use orange beacons, the notification added.
