According to official sources, the Transport commissioner has directed all regional transport officers (RTOs) to conduct regular checking of these vehicles and all documents like fitness of the vehicles, route permission letters issued by the Transport department, insurance papers and pollution under control (PUC) certificates.

Following allegations that most of these vehicles are running without valid registration documents, the department has asked the RTOs to strictly check the registration papers of these vehicles and the driving license of the drivers.

The RTOs, after assessing the fitness of these school and college going vehicles, will send their reports to the Transport department every month.
