Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak today ordered a probe by third party into yesterday’s outbreak of fire at Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences (ICS) of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

The Minister has directed the investigating agency to submit the probe report within a week. Further, the Minister has ordered for inspection of fire fighting systems at SCB Medical College & Hospital, Capital Hospital, Sishu Bhawan, Acharya Harihar Cancer Research Centre.

“An experienced consultant, a third party will be included in the preliminary committee formed the district collector to investigate the cause of yesterday’s fire. They have been asked to submit the report within a week. On the basis of the report we will take appropriate steps and if any lapses are found on anyone’s part, suitable action will be taken against him/her,” said Nayak briefing reporters after the review meeting.

The decisions were taken at a review meeting on yesterday’s fire at ICS of SCB Medical College & Hospital held at the state secretariat here today.The meeting chaired by the Minister was attended by departmental secretary Arati Ahuja and superintendent of SCB Medical College & Hospital.
