Odisha govt posthumously confers ‘Suraj Award-2022’ on Sushil Sahu, Siddhi Samruddhi of Ganjam

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik posthumously conferred the ‘Suraj Award-2022’ today on Sushil Sahu and Siddhi Samruddhi, on the occasion of World Organ Donation Day. Both organ donors hailed from Ganjam district.

Next of Kin (NoK) of the organ donors were handed over Rs 5 lakh each, the CM’s office said. Sushil Sahu belonged to Aladi village of Jagannathprasad locality and Siddhi Samruddhi belonged to Nilachalnagar of Gopalpur under Kanisi block, the official source added.

Organs donated by Sushil Sahu and Siddhi Samruddhi have created positive impacts on the society, which is indebted to their parents, the Chief Minister expressed.

“I appeal everyone to do such noble work of organ donation and create instances for others and help build an ideal society,” Patnaik added.

Donating organ brings ray of hope for a number of families. Saving the life of somebody by donating organ is a pious and courageous act. The sacrifices made by such noble families have no comparison whatsoever, the Chief Minister further said.

Speaker of Odisha Legislative Assembly Bikram Keshari Arukha presented two cheques to Sushil’s wife Pinki Sahoo and Siddhi Samruddhi’s father Sapan Kumar Bindhani respectively, in a virtual programme organised in Bhubaneswar for the purpose.

The Speaker Arukha and Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) Minister Naba Das highly praised the families of Sushil and Siddhi Samruddhi in their speeches.

5T Secretary to the Chief Minister V.K Pandian conducted the Award ceremony in presence of Chief Secretary, Development Commissioner and several other senior officials, while NHM Director gave the welcome address and DMET offered a vote of thanks.
