Bhubaneswar: A junior reader of Odisha Government Press at Cuttack was found guilty of molesting a girl undergoing apprentice training at the institute.

Accused Bimal Kumar Pattanaik, a junior reader of the Binding Section, was dismissed from service after an internal committee of the government printing press at Madhupatna in Cuttack found him guilty of molestation.

The victim is undergoing apprentice training at the School of Printing and Allied Traders (SPAT), functioning under the administrative control of the Directorate of Printing, Stationary & Publication at Madhupatna.

The junior reader had offered the girl a lift on his bike while she was on her way to home from the institute on July 16. He allegedly took the girl to a secluded place and molested her.

The girl had lodged a complaint in this regard with the Vice-Principal of SPAT on July 18. Following which, the institute referred the matter to an internal committee.

The committee also found that the accused had earlier sexually assaulted two other girls of the SPAT. But, they could not muster the courage to inform the incident to the authorities concerned.

The authorities of SPAT have forwarded the girl’s complaint to Madhupatna police for further action.
