Odisha govt promoted record number of employees in last week of December

Bhubaneswar: Acting as per the directive of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the State government has promoted a record 3,166 employees from 39 departments and 30 districts in the last week of last December.

According to a release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), 3,166 employees from Group-A to Group-D categories were allowed for promotion from December 24 to 31. Based on the information provided by different departments, 852 were promoted in Group-A while 527 have been given promotion in Group-B. A total of 1,496 and 291 employees were promoted in Group-C and Group-D categories.

From January to November 2019, 9,766 employees across categories were promoted. In 2019, as many as 12,932 employees were promoted.

The CMO release mentioned that 3,139 employees were promoted in 2019 at the district level.

Maximum 2,330 employees were promoted in the Home department whereas 1,307 were allowed for promotion in the Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment department. 1,251 staff were given promotion in the Health and Family Welfare department.

At the district level, 748 employees were promoted in Cuttack district while 218 and 194 were given promotion in Mayurbhanj and Ganjam districts.

The State government is focusing on better governance under the 5T initiative. With an aim to encourage government employees to be part of the 5-T programme, the CM has directed all the departments to promote eligible employees, the CMO release added.
