Odisha govt puts Rayagada DFO under suspension

Bhubaneswar: The State government today suspended senior Odisha Forest Service (OFS) officer and Rayagada Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Debarchan Behera with immediate effect on charges of involvement in corruption and sexually harassing women staff.

Behera was allegedly involved in irregularities in construction and maintenance of government building and working on bamboo coupes and purchase of store articles.

Besides, he was accused of sexual harassment of women staff at workplace. “This is serious in nature and violation of provisions of Conduct rules for government servants and the Sexual Harassment Of Women At Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013,” an official release said.

The statement said the serious allegations are under inquiry.
