SC, ST quota raised for Odisha higher education students

The Odisha government today raised reservation quota for SC &ST students seeking admissions in government-run higher education institutions in the state to 38.75% with effect from current 2015-16 academic year, said an official release.

Tribal schoolA notification was issued in this regard following approval of the proposal by chief minister Naveen Patnaik today.

Notably, as per the earlier provisions, 12% seats were reserved for SC students in government-run educational institutions in the state and 8% were reserved for ST students, under the new notification the reservation limit have been increased to 22.5% for SC students and 16.25% for ST students.

The new quota percentage will be applicable in all government-run institutions of higher education – plus two, undergraduate, post-graduate, engineering,  medical, technical and other professional courses.
