Odisha govt reduces counselling fee for B Tech admissions

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government today announced reduction in counselling fee for students seeking admission to BTech courses in the state.

While general category students will be required to deposit Rs 10,000 towards counseling fee at the nodal centre as per the new notification, scheduled tribe and scheduled caste and physically challenged students will be required to deposit Rs 5,000.

“For the benefit of the students, the government has made it simpler. ST/SC and Dibyang students will be required to deposit Rs 5,000 and students belonging to all others categories will be required to deposit Rs 10,000. University registration fee is Rs 5,000 and the remaining Rs 5,000 out of the Rs 10,000 deposit is towards the part admission fee for the institute,” informed Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) Chairman Tushar Kumar Nath.

Notably, the state government this year under the new format had fixed Rs 25,000 as the counselling fee for students under all categories.

Odisha Private Engineering College Association (OPECA) had opposed the move.
