Odisha govt releases Rs 33 lakh grant for three NGOs

Bhubaneswar/Bhadrak: The Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities department today granted Rs 33 lakh to three NGOs providing therapeutic and rehabilitation services to persons with intellectual disabilities (MR, CP, Autistic and Spastic).

The government has sanctioned funds to the Centre For Rehabilitation Services And Research (CRSR), the Shivanginee Institute of Child Development (SICD) and the Institute for Self-employment and Rural Development under the programme of Rehabilitation of Physically and Mentally Challenged Socially Disadvantaged Persons.

Earlier in the day, Secretary of 5-T initiative VK Pandian today paid a surprise visit to CRSR centre at Charampa in Bhadrak district. He had discussions with students of the institute and inquired about the quality of food being served to them. Later Pandian ate lunch with the students.

Pandian also visited the wards of Bhadrak district headquarter hospital and asked about the issues of patients. He inquired about the healthcare services being provided to patients and their attendants.

This apart, the 5-T Secretary held a review meeting with two other Secretaries, Suresh Mohapatra and Shalini Pandit and hospital authorities.
