Odisha govt to set up 10 model residential schools for SC, ST students

The Odisha government has decided to set up 10 model residential schools for SC and ST students in the state in line with Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) under the State Plan.

Students of these schools would be taught as per the syllabus of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The SC and ST Development department has decided to set up these schools in the tribal sub plan areas in Keonjhar, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal (G Udayagiri, Khajuripada, Phulbani), Gajapati and Malkangiri.

Each model residential schools with classes from VI to XII for 480 students, will come up on 10 acres of land.

According to Prof AB Ota, director, SC and ST Development, the department has asked collectors of seven districts to identity land for these proposed schools.
