‘Odisha Govt shielding accused Gajapati DFO in ACF death case’

Bhubaneswar: As the death mystery of Paralakhemundi ACF Saumya Ranjan Mohapatra is yet to be solved, local MLA K Narayan Rao today raised the issue in the state Assembly alleging that the state Government is shielding accused DFO Sangram Keshari Behera.

Drawing attention of Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro during Zero Hour, the BJP legislator said Gajapati is a peace-loving district but the the ACF’s death mystery has caused a lot of commotion recently. He said, “The ACF’s father Abhiram had named the DFO, ACF’s wife Bidya Bharati and cook while lodging an FIR in this connection. While Paralakhemundi police investigated the incident for over a month, the Crime Branch took over and probing it for the last three weeks. But both are still clueless about the incident.”

He also questioned as to why the police and the investing agency did not interrogate the three accused at police station. While Bidya Bharati was grilled at her own house, the DFO was questioned at Paralakhemundi police guest house.

The MLA further told the House that another major allegation against the DFO has come to fore recently.
“Red sandalwood is allegedly  being smuggled to Andhra Pradesh, Chennai and Hyderabad. Isn’t the DFO aware of this? Why he hasn’t been transferred yet. The entire episode proves that the state Government is protecting the DFO,” he said adding that let the truth come out.
