Odisha govt stipulates to publish final MBBS, BDS exam results before March 31

Accordingly, the universities are to be directed to expedite the publication of final results on time.

Bhubaneswar: Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department insisted today that the universities in Odisha must complete MBBS and BDS courses and conduct final examinations thereof by March 31.

Accordingly, the universities are to be directed to expedite the publication of final results on time.

Writing a letter in this regard to Principal Secretary to Government, Higher Education department, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary to Government, H&FW department Shalini Pandit said, “It is reiterated that it has been made mandatory by the Hon’ble Supreme Court and National Medical Council that all MBBS and BDS admissions are taken through a common Entrance Test called the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). In this regard, the guidelines for appearing in the NEET are issued by the National Board of Examinations. In order to become eligible in the NEET, the cut-off date for completing the internship is usually fixed to 31st March of the admission year. But, it is observed that when the final MBBS/BDS examination and publication of results are delayed, the students are not able to complete the one year internship before 31st March in the said year, for which they become ineligible to appear in the NEET and lose one year.”

“It is therefore requested that necessary instructions may be issued to the Universities concerned to complete the final MBBS & BDS examination and publish the final results before 31st March of the year, so that students can start their internship before 31st March and they become eligible for the NEET in the next year after completing the internship in time,” the official communiqué stated.

Notably, the instructions may be treated as most urgent, the circular mentioned.
