Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, July 15:

Revenue minister Bijayshree Routray on Monday informed the State Assembly that the construction of roads by the neighbouring West Bengal government under PMGSY in Gopinathpur and Madhupur mouzas of Sardarabandha Panchayat in Jaleswar block of Baleswar district has come to the notice of the Odisha government.

Taking strong exception to the forcible acquisition of these two mouzas by the West Bengal government, the Odisha government has sought a detailed report in this connection from the Baleswar collector and the tehsildar of Jaleswar block, the minister said while replying to a question put by Aswini Patra.

He, however, informed the House that the road construction work in these two mouzas has been stopped by the Baleswar district administration by clamping prohibitory orders under Section 144.

Stating that the demarcation work in the border villages is in the final stage of completion, he said state government has asked concerned secretaries to finalise the demarcation of the boundaries of these border villages at the inter-state secretary level meeting.
