Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today directed district administrations to remove barricades put up by villagers. It was seen that villagers in several areas have been placing bamboo barricades to prohibit entry of outsiders amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a letter to District Collectors, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy termed the barricades erected by villagers as illegal. He said no one can put up barricades except the administration.
He added barricades placed by villagers in some panchayats and villages have been creating hurdles in goods transport and causing inconvenience to labourers.
The Collectors were asked to remove barricades except those in containment zones.
