Bhubaneswar: In a bid to boost tourism in Odisha, the state government is planning to develop Dhauli Hill situated on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

A masterplan is being prepared for development of Dhauli Hill tourist destination and it will be executed soon, informed State Tourism Minister Aswini Kumar Patra to the House during Monsoon session of Odisha Assembly here today.

Replying to a query asked by Congress MLA Suresh Routray during question hour on development of Dhauli, Bindusagar and Kedar Gouri tourist sites, the Minister said that the destinations will get makeover soon.

Dhauli Hill, located about 8 km from Odisha’s capital city, is best known as the site of Dhauli Shanti Stupa or the Peace of Pagoda.

The giant structure was built by the Japan Buddha Sangha and the Kalinga Nippon Buddha Sangha in 1972. It commemorates the mission of peace that emperor Ashoka had achieved after the Kalinga War on banks of the Daya River.
