Odisha Government has formed a committee to evaluate the best practices adopted by district collectors, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said while addressing the two-day Collectors’ Conference that began at the Secretariat today.
Based on the report by the committee, the top three best practices will be rewarded at the valedictory session of the conference.
“I am very eager to hear the best practices adopted in your districts for providing better services to the people. The concerned departments should take note of it and try to replicate it at other places,” said Patnaik.
“Now we have to concentrate on qualitative aspects- how to reduce harassment to the beneficiaries, how better people's participation can be encouraged in the development process, how effectively public grievances can be addressed. We have to constantly find out ways and means to improve our performance in every sector, both quantitatively and qualitatively,” he added.
The six member committee constitutes of Excise Minister Damodar Rout, Women and Child Development Minister Usha Devi, School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra, Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan, Energy Secretary Suresh Mohapatra and Health Secretary Aarti Ahuja.
Addressing the gathering, Panchayati Raj Minister Arun Sahoo said that model panchayats would be set up across all 314 blocks of the state that will feature modern amenities that had so far been limited to urban areas.
Seven of the collectors present in the conference today made various presentations on different subjects assigned to them earlier.
While the implementation of various schemes of Panchayati Raj Department, Rural Development, School and Mass Education, Agriculture and Health Departments were reviewed in the conference today, the law and order situation of the state will be reviewed tomorrow. The SPs of all the districts will be part of it along with the collectors.
Ministers of concerned departments along with Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, secretaries of various department and other top officials are part of the conference.
