Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will roll out the Subhadra scheme for women on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17.
This was announced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in New Delhi today.
“The BJP government in Odisha will launch the Subhadra scheme on the occasion of Prime Minister’s birthday on September 17. The Prime Minister will visit Odisha to launch the scheme. Around 5 lakh women will participate in the event,” said the Chief Minister while addressing the Delhi Odia community today.
Earlier, the Odisha Cabinet headed by Chief Minister had approved a proposal to roll out the Subhadra scheme in the state within 100 days.
Under the scheme, every woman in the state will receive a cash voucher of Rs 50,000. The women can encash the vouchers within two years.
The Odisha government recently sought partial central funding to roll out the scheme.
Notably, Subhadra scheme was a key promise in the BJP manifesto for the 2024 Assembly polls in Odisha.
