Odisha govt urged to vaccinate Puri Jagannath Temple servitors

Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) today urged the Health & Family Welfare Department of the Odisha Government to administer COVID-19 vaccine to the servitors of the Srimandir here and their family members.

In a letter to the department, the SJTA Chief Administrator said that devotees are being allowed to enter the temple for darshan of the deities without production of COVID-19 negative report from January 21, for which the servitors are very likely to come in contact with many persons inside the temple premises.

In order to ensure uninterrupted conduct of rituals of the deities, the SJTA Chief Administrator has put forward a proposal of vaccinating the servitors and their family members on priority basis.

He also urged the department for administering COVID-19 vaccine to around 500 employees of the SJTA.
