Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance today arrested a Gram Panchayat Technical Assistant on charges of receiving bribe and unearthed over Rs 2 lakh 'unaccounted' cash from his government quarter.
Nrusingha Nath Pradhan, the Gram Panchayat Technical Assistant of Bolgarh Block in Khordha district was apprehended while demanding and receiving a bribe of Rs 19,200 from a person to release a bill for the construction of a cultural centre in Khanguria Gram Panchayat area under Bolgarh Block.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the accused and seized.
In this connection, the Bhubaneswar Vigilance registered a case under section 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 against Pradhan for a probe.
Following his arrest, the Vigilance sleuths searched his official residence and unearthed Rs 2,16,200 (Two Lakh Sixteen Thousand Two Hundred Rupee), the Vigilance informed.
Till the last report came in, the searches are underway at house.
