Odisha gun maker, supplier arrested

Brahmapur, June 5:
A man from Landajuali village under Gangapur police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district was arrested on charges of manufacturing and supplying country-made-guns to criminals and was forwarded to court today, police said.
During a raid, policed seized a single-shot pistol, a laptop and several equipment used for manufacturing guns from the house of Purna Chandra Nahak, said Ganjam SP AK Singh.
Nahak, who is a graduate, confessed to have supplied three country made guns to criminals during the last eight months, said Singh.
“A detailed investigation will be done on his links with the groups who procured guns from him and his links with other manufacturers,” the SP said.
A criminal who was involved in the loot of a petrol pump at Buguda on May 30 had revealed Nahak’s involvement in illegal arms trade during interrogation by the police, said Buguda IIC, RK Dey.
The IIC said police have recovered a country made gun from one Pappy Nayak of Aska, one of the accused in the petrol pump dacoity case and arrested him on Wednesday.
