Odisha HC appoints one-man panel to assess progress made in Jagamohana repair

The Orissa High Court today appointed a one-man committee to assess the progress of the repair work of the Jagamohana (prayer hall adjoining the sanctum sanctorum) of the Sri Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri.

The High Court appointed retired senior engineer and lawyer N K Mohanty as the one-man committee to assess the progress made in the repair of the Jagamohana. The one-man committee will visit Sri Jagannath temple on November 27 to check the progress of the repair work of the Jagamohana.

The committee will submit a report to the court after examining whether work has been done as stated in the report submitted by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

The High Court has directed the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) and the district administration to extend all cooperation to the committee in this regard.

The High Court has, however, directed the committee not to divulge any details to the media.

The High Court has further directed the committee to submit its report to the court in a sealed envelope.

On the other hand, the ASI has submitted a fresh status report to the High Court on the progress made in the repair of the Jagamohana.

The next for hearing in the matter has been fixed for December 7.
