Cuttack: The Orissa High Court (HC) today directed the Nayagarh SP to provide security to family members of the deceased five-year-old girl, who was killed after being kidnapped at Jadupur village in the district earlier in July this year.

Hearing a PIL filed by Bharatiya Vikash Parishad, the HC also directed the state Government to submit status report of investigation into the incident. The court will hear the matter next on December 16.

In the PIL, the outfit had sought a CBI probe into the incident and compensation of Rs 25 lakh for family of the deceased girl.

On July 14, the minor girl went missing while playing near her house. On July 23, her chopped body parts stashed in a gunny bag were found near a pond in the backyard of her house.
