Odisha HC directs State to hike daily remuneration of Home Guards

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court today directed the Odisha government to increase the daily allowances of Home Guards to Rs 533.

The court also asked the State government to pay the hiked remuneration to the Home Guards with retrospective effect from January 2020. The government will have to complete the process of payment of allowances to the Home Guards within three months.

There are about 17,675 Home Guards in the state. They are currently being paid Rs 300 per day by the State government.

In 2015, the Supreme Court had directed the state governments that home guards be given duty allowance at rates equal to the minimum pay that a regular police personnel of the state is entitled to in a month.
