The High Court quashed the case on the basis of a settlement reached between Barsa Swony and her husband-Rajashree Mohanty.
Both Barsa Swony and Rajashree had earlier submitted affidavits to the court in this regard. They had stated before the High Court that they had reached a compromise and have reunited hence there was no need to continue with the case.

The High Court’s order is a formal requirement for quashing of the matter which is pending in a lower court in Balasore.
It may be recalled here that estranged couple Rajashree and Barsa Swony had on May 25 announced their reunion at a press conference in Bhubaneswar. The reunion was facilitated by Barsa Swony Foundation.
Notably, in 2013, Barsa Swony had filed a case against husband Rajashree and his family members, alleging that her in-laws demanded a sum of Rs 25 lakh and a vehicle from her as dowry but when her parents had declined, they started torturing her.
