Odisha HC seeks final status report on Seashore chit fund scam from CBI

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court today ordered Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to submit final status report on Seashore chit fund scam.

The High Court issued the order while conducting a hearing on the bail plea of BJD MLA from Choudwar-Cuttack constituency Pravat Ranjan Biswal, who has been arrested and is in jail as an under trial prisoner for his alleged complicity in the Seashore chit fund scam, court sources said.

The court has fixed April 17 as the next date for hearing in the matter, the sources added.

Notably, the BJD lawmaker was arrested by the CBI on September 18, last year for his alleged involvement in Seashore chit fund scam.

Biswal after his arrest by the CBI had moved the High Court for bail which was rejected.

The CBI which filed its second charge sheet in the Rs 550 crore scam in January this year has named Biswal and his wife Laxmi Bilasini as offenders.
