Odisha HC serves notice to striking teachers’ bodies

Cuttack, Aug 25:

Expressing concern over the closure of schools due to the teachers’ strike in the state, the Odisha High Court today served notice to seven striking teacher’s associations and sought a reply from them in this regard within a week.

High-CourtA division bench of the court consisting of Chief Justice DH Waghela and Justice Biswanath Rath issued the notice while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL).

The petitioner had urged the court to direct the teachers associations to start teaching in the schools.

The court posted its next hearing to September 2.

It may be noted that teaching in 3725 schools were hit due to the recent demonstrations by the teacher’s associations affecting the studies of more than 3,90,000 students.
