Odisha HC stays SAT decision to annul appointment of 378 OAS officers

The Odisha High Court has granted a stay on State Administrative Tribunal (SAT) decision setting aside the appointment of 378 Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) in 2010.

The SAT had set aside the appointment in May this year on the grounds that the OAS officers, who were recruited in Class II posts with basic pay of Rs 6, 500, were promoted to Class I rank with basic pay of Rs 15, 000 in 2010 in contravention of rules.

The government decision to promote these officers to Class I had been challenged in the SAT by aggrieved candidates who had lost out in the bargain.

The SAT decision, in turn, was challenged by officers promoted to Class I who stand to lose out by the Tribunal decision.
