Soro: At least two persons were killed as the ill-fated motorcycle on which they were travelling had a head-on collision today afternoon with a speeding car near Nimagohiri Chhak on Gopalpur-Balasore road in Odisha’s Balasore district.

The two deceased were identified as 43-year-old Paresh Acharya, the son of Padmanava Acharya, and 54-year-old Narahari Sahoo from Pandaharipur.

According to a police source, the bike-borne persons were going from the Gopalpur side to elsewhere in the district when they met with an accident. Some locals rescued the two injured and rushed them to community health centre (CHC) in Gopalpur for treatment in critical condition. However, doctors at the health facility declared the duo ‘brought dead’.

On being informed, a team of police reached the spot and seized the bodies of Paresh and Padmanava. Police have registered a case in this connection and launched a probe. “Driver of the car fled from the spot along with the vehicle soon after the road mishap,” the senior official said.
