Odisha: Headmaster ‘rapes’ two students in school, held

Rajnagar: A headmaster of a private school allegedly raped two students on the premises of the educational institution in Odisha’s Kendrapara district.

The local police captured the accused from the school for questioning in the incident.

According to reports, Pradip Kumar Pradhan, the school’s owner, works as the headmaster at the school in Rajnagar area. He teaches a few students at the school campus from 2 pm to 4 pm after classes that start from 6.30 am to 11.30.

The students coming to school from distant places usually stay at the school after class hours for tuition.

As per allegations lodged by the victims’ families, Pradhan raped a Class 6 girl student and a Class 7 girl student on the premises of the school before the commencement of the tuition class on January 16. When the survivors opposed his heinous act, the latter threatened them of dire consequences.

Two other students were the witness of the entire incident at the school, the complainants claimed.

After the victims revealed the incident to their families, parents along with village people went to the school and asked the accused about it. He first denied and later confessed to his crime before them.

Based on complaints, the police detained the accused headmaster and interrogated two other students in connection with the case.
