Odisha Health Min visits ailing Parala Maharaj in Chennai hospital

Odisha Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak today visited the private hospital in Chennai where the ailing Paralakhemundi Maharaj Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Deb has been admitted for treatment.

The Minister enquired about his health and met the hospital authorities.

Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik yesterday directed Nayak to go to Chennai for consultation with the doctors about the health condition of Parala Maharaj.

Today, Chief Minister spoke to King’s daughter Kalyani Gajapati over phone and conveyed her that all treatment expenses on him would be borne by the state government.

It may be mentioned here that the septuagenarian is a two-time Lok Sabha member from Berhampur constituency and is the heir of the erstwhile Gajapati dynasty and grandson of Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati. He had played a pivotal role in the formation of a separate Odisha state on the basis of its language on April 1, 1936.
