Odisha: Heat wave warning issued for Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh

Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued heat wave warning for Khurda, Cuttack and Nayagarh districts of Odisha.

Heat wave conditions very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Nayagarh, Khurda and Cuttack between 1330 hrs IST of 25.04.2021 and 0830 hrs IST of 27.04.2021, the Meteorological Centre said.

“Heat is tolerable for general public but moderate health concern for vulnerable people (viz: infant, elderly and sick people). It is advised to take precautionary measures for hot weather while going outside during noontime (between 11 am and 3 pm) in these areas,” it said.

“Maximum temperature (Day temperature) very likely to rise gradually by 2-3°C at many places over the districts of interior Odisha during next 2-3 days and no large change thereafter. Maximum temperature (Day temperature) will be above normal by 3-5°C at a few places over the districts of coastal Odisha during next 48 hours and it will fall gradually by 2-3°C thereafter,” it forecasted.

The Meteorological Centre also issued thunderstorm warning for several districts:

* Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 27.04.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 28.04.2021).

* Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Boudh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 28.04.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 29.04.2021).

* Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 29.04.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 30.04.2021).
