Odisha heatstroke death toll rises to 12

Bhubaneswar, May 5:

The Odisha government today confirmed two more sunstroke deaths in the state. taking the official toll to 12.

These two death cases were reported from Angul and Dhenkanal districts.

The SRC office has received 45 complaints of death due to sunstroke so far.

The temperature levels are on the rise in both the districts that house several industries including thermal power generation units. The opencast coal mining in Talcher in Angul district is also believed to have contributed to the heat factor.

Even though the temperature has registered a dip and some parts of the state have received light rain yesterday, the Meterological department has warned that the temperature may see an upward swing after May 9.
